CAMCO spreads awareness on Texas campuses
SAN ANTONIO -- Be The Match Marrow Registry has partnered with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Texas State University (TSU) and several community organizations to educate university students about cancer. Cancer Advocacy Movement for Colleges & Outreach (CAMCO) is designed to stress the importance of cancer prevention, early detection and how students can help someone who has been stricken with the disease.
With the help of The American Cancer Society, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Susan G. Komen for the Cure and many others, volunteer students received training on how to educate others about the disease. With the given knowledge, students will be coordinating events and educating peers on cancer.
Students will be able to take advantage of a number of activities, such as The Cancer Survivors Panel, where they will be able to hear from other peers who have coped or are coping with cancer. The university communities will also be able to register with the Be The Match Marrow Registry and purchase a “Marrow Me” T-shirt from the Marrow Match organization.
