Lone Star Circle of Life bike tour rides into Austin
Bringing awareness to the gift of life
AUSTIN, TX (October 7, 2009) – Mark your calendars: The Lone Star Circle of Life Bike tour will ride into Austin on Friday, October 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Barton Creek Square. In its 12th year, the Bike Tour continues to raise awareness of the need for life-saving donations of blood, marrow, organs and tissue. Besides having their personal lives affected by blood, marrow, organ or tissue donation, the cyclists will be riding on behalf of Austin honorees affected by life-saving components.Local honorees have been chosen from people who have either donated or received blood, marrow, organ or tissue. This year, the tour takes cyclists on an eight day, 605 mile ride that will wrap up in San Antonio but not before making a stop in Austin where the community can register for the Be the Match Marrow Donor registry.
Recipients, donors and donor families will be on hand to share their experience and answer questions. Please visit http://circleoflife.sw.org for more information about the event, including bios of riders and other local honorees.
